Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal transformation
Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal transformation (EMT) is a multi-step, reversible molecular process of cells causing cytoskeletal rearrangement, resolution of cell-to-cell contacts and augmentation of extracellular matrix degeneration. Cells undergoing EMT establish phenotypes with elevated invasiveness, accumulation of stem cell properties that includes increase stress resistance. EMTs cardinal roles in development and disease.
In our work we focus on EMT in the context of visceral cancer and proctology.
